Man, 21, Killed After Car Crashes Into Tree In Brentwood

A 21-year-old man was killed after crashing his car into a tree on Washington Avenue just north of Flick Place in Brentwood, police said.

Jonathan Cifuentes was reportedly driving a 2001 Nissan Altima southbound on Washington Avenue when his vehicle crossed over the northbound lane and struck a tree on the east side of the street, approximately 15 feet north of Flick Place, at approximately 5:25 a.m. Thursday, June 20, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Cifuentes, 21, of Brentwood, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, said police.

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating the crash. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, according to the report
